I’m often asked wehere I get my inspiration from. Besides reading every vintage pinup book and article I can get my hands on, my desire to paint pinups comes from the energy and dedication of the modern retro pinup movement. I’ve been lucky enough to work with some of the top retro pinups and had my vision come true last week working with the tremendously beautiful and talented Sabina Kelley. I’d seen Sabina model so many different styles of pinup that I knew she was one model I could go to for all three genres I concentrate in: Retro Glamour, Rockabilly, and Burlesque. Sabina was kind enough to accept the assignment to model the three different looks during one shoot so that I could have great reference material to work from. We tapped her talented team of make-up artist Chris Montoya and photographer Michelle Collignon (www.michellexstar.com) to help pull it off. With some rough sketches provided by me, this talented team went to work on creating my vision. Not only are they all very creative and professional, but they are also a lot of fun to work with. Check out Sabina’s and Michelle’s myspace pages to see some pictures from the shoot. I’ll be going to work immediately on creating pinup art based on Sabina’s photos. Can’t wait to get painting!
